Erect or subscandent shrub 1.8–4 m. long or tall, the stems slender, glabrous, dark purple-brown with pale lenticels; branches held horizontally.. Leaf-blades oblong to oblong-elliptic or-ovate, 2.5–8.5 cm. long, 0.8–3.7 cm. wide, acuminate at the apex, the actual tip mostly narrowly rounded, cuneate to rounded at the base, thin, the margins often crinkly, glabrous save for tufts of white hairs in the axils beneath or very young leaves with adpressed seta-like hairs but very soon glabrous; veins reticulate beneath on drying; petiole 3–7 mm. long; stipules joined to form a short hyaline sheath 1.5–2 mm. long, each with a subulate appendage 3–5 mm. long from just below the margin.. Flowers solitary; pedicels 5 mm. long, lengthening to 1.8–2.3 cm. in fruit and thickening slightly towards the apex.. Calyx-tube campanulate, ±1.5 mm. long, the limb reduced to a narrow rim or with 5 very narrow linear lobes 0.5–1 mm. long.. Buds with long tails 3–4 mm. long.. Corolla dull yellow, cream or greenish white; tube 3.5 mm. long, sparsely pubescent outside, glabrous inside save throat sparsely pubescent; lobes narrowly triangular, 4–5 mm. long, 2 mm. wide, with subulate appendages 4.5 mm. long.. Anthers brownish, curved, just exserted, ± 1.5–2 mm. long.. Ovary 2–3-locular; style exserted, ± 4–5 mm. long; stigmatic club green, coroniform, 1–2 mm. wide, bilobed at apex.. Fruit globose or didymous, ± 1–1.2 cm. long, 0.8–1.2 cm. wide, with 2–3 pyrenes; pyrenes ellipsoid-fusiform, ± 1 cm. long, 4–4.5 mm. wide, not markedly widened in apical third, dehiscing easily at the apex..
