Characteristics

Shrub 1–2 m. tall or branched tree 3–6 m. tall; stems grey or blackish grey, rugose; young shoots densely covered with short pale ferruginous pubescence; flowering shoots sometimes very short, corrugate and nodose.. Leaf-blades narrowly ovate-elliptic, 0.8–5 cm. long, 0.4–2 cm. wide, acute to shortly acuminate at the apex, broadly cuneate at the base, discolorous, blackish above when dry, much paler beneath and densely pubescent on the midrib; petiole 1 mm. long, densely pubescent; stipules with pubescent triangular base 3 mm. long and subulate appendage 3–3.5 mm. long.. Inflorescence 1–2(–3)-flowered; peduncle obsolete; pedicels 1–3 mm. long, ferruginous pubescent.. Buds obtuse or shortly apiculate.. Calyx-tube 1 mm. long; limb 1 mm. long, ± scarious, denticulate.. Corolla greenish yellow, glabrous outside; tube ± cylindrical-urceolate, 6 mm. long, with a ring of deflexed hairs inside; lobes ovate, 2 mm. long, 1.5 mm. wide with very short appendages.. Anthers 1.5 mm. long, half-exserted.. Ovary 5-locular; style ± 6 mm. long, the stigmatic club coroniform, 5-lobed.. Fruit not seen.
