Shrub 2–3 m. tall or tree to 10 m.; stems slender, densely ferruginous hairy when young, later glabrous, the older parts grey and minutely fissured.. Leaf-blades oblong to oblong-lanceolate, 2–9 cm. long, 0.9–3 cm. wide, acuminate at the apex, rounded at the base, sparsely pilose above and below mainly on the nerves to densely almost velvety hairy on both surfaces with pale brownish hairs; petiole 1.5–3 mm. long; stipules triangular, 2 mm. long, joined at base, with subulate hairy appendage 8 mm. long.. Inflorescences 1-flowered; pedicels 3–5 mm. long, pubescent.. Buds acuminate with 5 tails.. Calyx-tube 1.2 mm. long, pubescent; lobes linear, 1.2 mm. long.. Corolla greenish yellow or yellow; tube 6 mm. long, pubescent outside, glabrous inside; lobes 2.5 mm. long, pubescent outside, with subulate pubescent appendages 4 mm. long.. Ovary 2-locular.. Fruit creamy green, obovoid, flattened on one face, with a few hairs, subglobose ± 1.3 cm. in diameter or if consisting of 1 pyrene then 10 mm. long, 6 mm. wide; fruiting pedicels 1.6 cm. long.
