Corolla acuminate and with distinct tails in bud; tube 2–2.5 mm long, with upper part ferruginous-pubescent, inside with a ring of deflexed hairs; lobes 3–4 mm long, triangular-lanceolate, with long filiform appendages 2–2.5 mm long.
Shrub or tree 1.5–4 m tall (or climber fide Nawa et al. 140); branches dark reddish-brown or blackish, densely covered with ± spreading ferruginous hairs when young, later ± glabrous.
Flowers solitary, or in 2-flowered cymes; peduncles 1–1.5 mm long; pedicels c. 2 mm long; bracts up to 3 mm long, filiform, all parts densely ferruginous-pubescent.
Fruit 10–12 mm in diameter, globose but 3–6-lobed when dry, glabrous; pyrenes 8 mm long with a pitted-reticulate surface.
Calyx tube 1.5 mm long, obconic, ferruginous-pubescent; limb c. 0.5 mm long, with distant teeth under 0.5 mm long.
Pollen presenter coroniform, sulcate, deeply 5-lobed at the apex.
Style 4–5 mm long.
Ovary 5–locular.
