Plants usually consist of a single growth with coarse, wiry roots (sometimes buttress-like). Stem 20–50 mm long. Leaves 3–6, crowded, 30–60 × 10–12 mm, usually curved, green to bronze often with darker spotting; midrib prominently ridged beneath. Racemes stiffly pendulous, 50–90 mm long, 20–50-flowered. Flowers opening in synchronously, 5–7 × 3–4 mm, yellowish green with red markings, labellum white, anther red. Sepals and petals remaining cupped. Dorsal sepal c. 2 × 1 mm. Lateral sepals c. 3 × 1 mm. Petals c. 1 × 1 mm. Labellum c. 2 × 1 mm; lateral lobes c. 1 mm long, triangular; midlobe short, rounded, with incurved margins; spur c. 1.5 mm long.
Disjunctly distributed, but often locally common; found growing on shrubs and trees, rarely rocks, extending from coastal lowlands to relatively dry areas to 200 km inland. Favours open, humid habitats including coastal scrub, dry rainforests, vine thickets and monsoonal thickets in which trees shed a high proportion of their leaves during winter.
