Characteristics

Tree to 15 m high. Stipules linear-lanceolate or rarely oblanceolate, 9–35 mm long. Leaves: petiole 4–6 mm long; lamina lanceolate to elliptic, 50–180 mm long, 15–65 mm wide; base cordate, weakly auriculate or obtuse; margin crenate with 23–30 small teeth per side of midrib; tip short to long acuminate; lateral veins 7–10 per side of midrib. (generic character) Male flowers: pedicels 3–6 mm long; sepals obovate to ovate, 1.3–2.2 mm long; stamens 12–15. Female flowers: pedicels 3–8 mm long; sepals lanceolate, 1.5–3 mm long; styles 8–10 mm long. Fruit ovoid, 9–12 mm long, 10–11 mm diam. Seeds c. 8 mm long, 5 mm wide.
