Tree, 23-25 m by 45 cm diam. Branchlets 2-3 cm thick, glabrous except the tips; terminal bud 1.5-3 cm long; next to normal leaves, there are undeveloped leaf-bases, 2-8 by 0.5 cm, similar to those, which serve as bracts to the inflorescences. Leaves 3-5-jugate, glabrous, (60-)80-135 cm long. Petioles 23-35 cm, channelled at the base. Leaflets elliptic-ovate to elliptic-oblong (terminal one obovate-oblong), (15-)24-47 by (5.5-)11-18 cm, coriaceous; base rounded to broadly cuneate; apex acuminate; midrib and nerves prominent on either surface, nerves 8-14 pairs (angle 60-70°), faintly curved, not arching except sometimes in basal and apical part to all looped and joined; veins prominent underneath. Panicles axillary, crowded at the tips of the branchlets, 12-32 cm long, shortly pubescent, peduncle (1-)3-10 cm. Flowers c. 2 mm long, puberulous. Calyx 1 mm long. Petals suborbicular. Filaments adnate to the cupular disk. Pistillode in male flowers minuteInfructescences 20-38 cm, shortly pubescent. Fruits ovoid, 1.5-1.75 by 1-1.25 cm, stigma near the pedicel.
