Herb up to 75 cm., with an elongated rhizome.. Petioles forming a false stem up to 60 cm., with swollen base; leaf-blade lanceolate, acute, basally attenuate; leaves contemporary with flowers.. Scape 15–45 cm. long, initiated within the false stem, but early breaking through the sheath.. Involucral bracts drooping and withering early.. Flowers 10–25, drooping; pedicels 1.5–3.5 cm.. Perianth greenish at base, salmon pink to scarlet distally, whitish between.. Perianth-tube funnel-shaped, 2.5–4 cm. long; segments not spreading, ovate, 1–1.5 cm. long, 4–8 mm. broad, with distinct glandular hairs at apex.. Filaments flattened, shorter than the segments.. Berries 1.5–2 cm. in diameter.
