Erect woody perennial herb to shrub, c. 1.2 m tall, usually laxly branching, stem conspicuously ridged, sparsely short pubescent, young stems densely glandular with sessile glands. Leaves alternate, sessile or petiolate, if petiolate, petiole c. 1 mm wide at base, lamina narrowly elliptic, 30-60 mm long, 10-25 mm wide, lamina usually pubescent above and below, upper lamina glandular pubescent or with sessile glands and lower lamina with sessile glands, lamina pinnatisect, lobes with regular teeth, each lobe or tooth apex hardened, leaf base attenuate, leaf venation raised below, lower venation spreading pubescent or with setae. Inflorescences of numerous clustered capitula, capitula pedicellate, pedicels 2-5 mm long, sparsely adpressed pubescent with dense sessile glands; bracts c. 1 mm long, adaxially densely glandular and sparsely pubescent. Capitula discoid, homogamous; involucre broad-cylindrical, 2-6 mm in diam.; phyllaries 18-26, multiseriate, 2.5-3.5 mm long, 0.5-1 mm wide, often with hyaline margins and apex, phyllaries often abaxially pubescent with spreading hairs that dry yellow; receptacle steeply conical at maturity, c. 1 mm diam. Florets hermaphrodite, 15-40, corollas yellow, lobes c. 0.4 mm long, acute and inturned forming a hood, tube c. 1.5 mm long, c. 0.5 mm diam., distinction between tube and throat not conspicuous; anthers drying white, c. 1 mm long, apical anther appendages acute; basal anther appendages very short and triangular, anther collars inconspicuous and not pigmented. Achenes c. 1.5 mm long, c. 1 mm wide, often covered with many glands, setulae absent; pappus absent.
