Characteristics

Cushion-forming. Branches foliose. Leaves rigid, glossy, oblong to oblanceolate, 2–4 mm long, 0.9–1.2 mm wide, with hyaline or pale margins, ciliate towards base and with scattered hairs on sheath, obtuse at apex. Pedicels absent or to 2 mm long, glabrous. Calyx of 2 decussate pairs of sepals; outer pair perfoliate, lanceolate or oblong to oblanceolate, 2.5–3 mm long, 1–1.5 mm wide, with apices similar to leaves; inner pair narrower, navicular, ±membranous, 2–3 mm long, c. 0.7 mm wide, acute, with a line of colleters on adaxial surface at base. Corolla tube 1.5–2 mm long; lobes imbricate, 1–2 mm long. Capsule c. 2 mm long, 3.2–5.5 mm wide, not vernicose.
