Flowers: in panicle with clusters of spikelets; spikelets dark brown to almost black at maturity, smooth at tip; lowermost involucral bract culm-like, as long as or longer than spikelets; glumes terminating in 0.12-0.20 mm long mucros, without dark inverted V each side of keel; anther crest 0.18-0.25 mm long; style 3-cleft. Fruit a 3-sided, smooth nutlet, 1.2-2.0 mm long.
