Small rounded shrub to 40 cm high, glabrous except woolly-pilose leaf axils. Leaves slender, semiterete, acute, 5–15 mm long. Flowers solitary. Perianth glabrous except woolly-ciliate tepals. Stamens 5. Fruiting perianth hard, erect and oppressed to branch; attachment very oblique, firm; tube semicylindrical, dorsiventrally compressed, c. 3 mm high; limb erect, long woolly-ciliate; spines 3, spreading to recurved, slender, 2.5–5 mm long. Seed and radicle erect.
