Erect tufted perennial to 25 cm high with fleshy taproot, sparsely hirtellous to glabrous. Branches slender. Leaves slender, semiterete to linear, 5–10 mm long. Flowers solitary. Perianth sparsely puberulous. Stamens 4. Fruiting perianth erect, cylindrical, (slightly dorsiventrally compressed), c. 4 mm long, 1 mm wide, thinly woody, sparsely puberulous or glabrous; lower third-forming a hollow stipe very obliquely attached to stem; limb inconspicuous; spines 3+2, 2–3 mm long or one of the radicular pair reduced; radicular pair erect, the others spreading. Seed erect.
