Characteristics

Leaves paripinnate, 30–70 mm long, 10–16-foliolate; stipules c.3 mm long, very narrowly triangular to linear, red-brown pubescent, caducous; petiole and rachis pubescent, ridged; leaflets alternate (the basal and upper pair sometimes opposite), 11–26 × 6–12 mm, asymmetric, rhombic-ovate, apex obtuse or rounded to emarginate, base asymmetric, proximal side rounded, distal side cuneate, glabrous; midrib subcentral, venation brochidodromous.

Inflorescences simply racemose, terminal on young flush growth, 7–10-flowered; bracts and bracteoles 3–4 mm long, linear-spathulate, caducous at time of anthesis; pedicels 4–7 mm long, sparsely puberulous below.
Pods c.7.5 × 4 cm, broadly oblong, somewhat asymmetric, glabrous, with narrow flanges along each side of the dorsal suture, elastically dehiscent.
Petals 4(5), narrowly obovate, tapering to a basal claw, 2 broader 10–11 × 3.5 mm, 2 narrower 10–11 × 2.5 mm.
Shrub, or tree to 20 m; bark (from photograph with Torre & Correia 14585) pale, smooth on main branches.
Young twigs terete, red-brown pubescent, glabrescent; older twigs grey, lenticellate.
Sepals 4, 4 × 1.2 mm, narrowly triangular, reflexed at anthesis.
Hypanthium 3–4 mm long, narrowly funnel-shaped, glabrous.
