Succulent subshrub, with trailing subterranean or surface stems and erect sparsely branched leafy stems up to 60 cm. high (2 m. fide Hedberg (1957)), glabrous.. Leaves ternate, subsessile, oblong-elliptic to oblong-oboval, 1.5–3 cm. long, 0.7–1.4 cm. broad, apex obtuse, base rounded-attenuate, flat, entire.. Inflorescence a many-flowered terminal corymbose cyme; bracts resembling the leaves but smaller; pedicels 7–13 mm. long.. Flowers 5-merous.. Calyx-tube infundibuliform, ± 1 mm. long; lobes triangular-ovate, 4–5 mm. long, apex acute.. Petals yellow, free, oblong-lanceolate, 10–15 mm. long, 4–5 mm. broad, long-acute.. Stamens 10; filaments 9–11 mm. long; antipetalous filaments inserted 3–5 mm. above the base of the petal, free for 5–6 mm; anthers oval-orbicular.. Nectary-scales spathulate, 1–1.2 mm. long, 0.8 mm. broad, retuse.. Carpels 5, united at the base for 1.5 mm., 8–9 mm. long; style recurved, 2.5–3 mm. long..
