Lax, probably often spindly, dwarf woody shrublet or perennial herb up to c. 500 mm tall, stoutest stem seen c. 4 mm in diam., main stems sprawling to suberect, loosely virgately branched, old parts nude, young branches puberulous, hairs less than 0.1 mm long, recurved, closely leafy. Leaves opposite, quickly alternate upwards, not fascicled but sometimes with small axillary leaf-tufts, sharply ascending to somewhat spreading, largest ones 4-10 x 0.7-1.1 mm, linear-lanceolate or linear-oblong, apex acute, shortly mucronulate, base scarcely narrowed, decurrent, margins entire, thickened, moderately thick-textured, lower surface often with a median channel (formed by thickened margins), midrib raised on lower surface at base, glabrous or rarely a few minute projections on margins. Inflorescence a crowded raceme, sometimes a few flowers at base distant, c. 10-20 x 10 mm, solitary at tips of long leafy branchlets, occasionally very loosely panicled. Bract adnate to pedicel and sometimes to base of calyx tube as well, lowermost 3.2-5 x 0.8 mm, linear-lanceolate, acute, hairs up to 0.1-0.2 mm long on lower margins, few minute globular glands inside at base. Pedicel c. 0.2-0.6 mm long. Calyx 1.8-2.6 mm long, campanulate, subequally 5-lobed at least halfway to base,-lobes narrowly triangular, acute, hairs 0.15-0.2 mm long on margins, few c. 0.1-0.15 mm long scattered outside together with minute globular glands, inside glabrous. Corolla tube 3.6-5 mm long, funnel-shaped, limb 5-6 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 1.6-2.2 x 1-1.2 mm long, anticous lobe 2.1-3 x 1.1-1.7 mm, all lobes oblong-elliptic, white. Stamens: posticous filaments 1-2.5 mm long, anticous filaments 2-3 mm, all anthers exerted, posticous less than anticous. Stigma and style c. 3.5-5.6 mm long, style usually pubescent. Ovary c. 1 x 0.5 mm. Cocci 2.1-3 x 1.3-1.7 mm, red-or yellow-brown, smooth, inner face depressed into two relatively enormous cavities (spurious cells), the seed occupying only a very small portion of the loculus, both cocci held within the persistent calyx.
