Shrublet, virgately well branched, branches possibly reaching c. l m in length but spreading, old parts up to c. 5 mm in diam., bare, woody, young parts minutely puberulous, hairs up to 0.1 mm long, retrorse (see discussion), leafy. Leaves alternate, fascicled, largest primary leaves 8-12 x 1-1.3 mm, narrowly elliptic, oblong-elliptic or very narrowly obovate, apex obtuse or subacute, base narrowed then abruptly expanded and half-clasping, margins entire, revolute, midrib slightly raised on lower surface, glandular-punctate, few minute hairs on margins of clasping base otherwise either glabrous or with few scattered hairs to c. 0.1 mm on upper surface; axillary leaves similar. Inflorescence a lax terminal panicle, sometimes compound, the whole then very floriferous with panicles up to c. 150 x 60 mm, individual glomerules c. 6-8 x 6-8 mm, composed of up to c. 20 flowers, soon elongating, flowers becoming distant, glomerules either floriferous to base or on nude or nearly nude peduncles up to c. 15-20 mm long. Bract adnate to calyx tube and minute pedicel when present, lowermost 2-3(-4) x 0.8-1.3 mm, elliptic, obtuse, base concave, hairs up to 0.1-0.2 mm long on lower margins, less than 0.1 mm scattered on lower part of back, sometimes almost wanting. Pedicels 0-0.25 mm long. Calyx 1.5-2 mm long, obliquely campanulate, 2 anticous lobes longer than other three, hairs up to 0.1-0.25 mm long on margins, c. 0.1 mm long outside, sometimes few, together with minute globular glands. Corolla tube 2-3 mm long, funnel-shaped, limb 3.7-5 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 1-1.8 x 0.6-1.25 mm, anticous lobe 2-2.7 x 1-1.7 mm, all lobes oblong-elliptic, shades^ of violet. Stamens: posticous filaments 1.2-2.2 mm long, anticous filaments 2-3 mm, all anthers far exerted. Stigma and style c. 2.5-4.5 mm long, style glabrous or occasionally a few very minute hairs. Ovary c. 0.6 x 0.4 mm. Cocci not seen.
