Dwarf woody shrublet, no basal parts seen, no height recorded, possibly c. 150-300 mm, stems very well branched, spreading to erect, old parts woody, bare, young parts densely puberulous, hairs c. 0.1 mm long, retrorse, closely leafy. Leaves opposite, tardily alternate upwards, weakly fascicled or not, largest leaves 4-13 x 1-1.3 mm, oblong or narrowly elliptic, apex obtuse, base slightly narrowed then abruptly expanded and half-clasping, margins entire, thickened, strongly revolute, texture thick, midrib invisible above, slightly raised below, both surfaces densely puberulous, hairs c. 0.1 mm long tending to reflex. Inflorescences short crowded terminal spike c. 9-12 x 9-10 mm in first flower, lowermost flowers sometimes distant, elongating slightly to c. 15-25 mm in fruit, solitary or loosely panicled. Brad adnate to calyx tube, lowermost 2.8-4.4 x 0.7-0.9 mm, oblong, obtuse to subacute, both surfaces densely puberulous, hairs c. 0.1-0.15 mm long, 0.1-0.25 mm on margins. Pedicels either wanting or up to c. 0.4 mm long. Calyx 2-2.8 mm long, obliquely campanulate, 5-lobed roughly halfway to base, two anticous lobes distinctly larger (longer and somewhat broader) than other three, densely puberulous all over, hairs c. 0.15-0.2 mm long, sometimes to 0.3 mm on margins. Corolla tube 3-4.5 mm long, funnel-shaped, limb 4-5 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 1-2 x 0.7-1.1 mm, anticous lobe 1.8-2.7 x 1-1.8 mm, all lobes oblong-elliptic, shades of pinkish-mauve. Stamens: posticous filaments 2-3 mm long, anticous filaments 2.6-4 mm, all anthers well exerted. Stigma and style c. 4-6.5 mm long, style with a few minute hairs. Ovary c. 0.7 x 0.3 mm. Cocci 1.7-2 x 0.8-1.2 mm, dark red-brown, slightly rugulose. The plants were in flower and fruit in March, July and October.
