Characteristics

Probably a dwarf shrublet, height unknown, virgately well-branched, old stems bare, young parts pubescent, hairs c. 0.1 mm long, strongly recurved, slightly longer lower down and ± patent, closely leafy. Leaves opposite soon alternate upwards, fascicled, largest primary ones c. 4-5.5 x 0.8-1.2 mm, elliptic-lanceolate, apex acute, base narrowed then abruptly expanded and half-clasping, margins entire, strongly thickened, texture rather thick, midrib weakly channelled on upper surface, raised on lower, glandular-punctate otherwise glabrous except for short hairs on margins of clasping base; axillary leaves similar but smaller and not clasping at base. Inflorescences congested many-flowered spike c. 10 mm in diam., all material seen in first flower only, mostly solitary at tips of many leafy branchlets, occasionally 2 or 3 subsidiary spikes below terminal one. Bract adnate to calyx tube, lowermost c. 3.6-4.5 x 1 mm, lanceolate, acute, concave, hairs to 0.3 mm long on margins and lower part of back together with many glandular hairs c. 0.1 mm long, inside minute globular glands. Pedicel wanting. Calyx c. 2.7-3 mm long, deeply 2-lobed (the anticolateral lobes), posticous lobe either wanting or short and very slender, anticolateral lobes c. 1 mm broad, concave, subacute, hairs c. 0.3 mm long on margins and outside together with minute glandular hairs, inside very minutely glandular all over together with acute hairs c. 0.15 mm long. Corolla tube c. 4-8 mm long, funnel-shaped, limb c. 5-6 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes c. 2-3 x 1 mm, anticous lobe c. 2.3-4 x 1 mm, all lobes elliptic-oblong, colour unknown. Stamens: posticous filaments c. 2 mm long, anticous filaments c. 2.5-3 mm, all anthers exerted. Stigma and style c. 7-10 mm long, style pubescent. Ovary c. 0.8 x 0.7 mm, glabrous. Cocci not seen.
