Suffrutex up to c. 600 mm tall, often slender, wiry and erect, capable of flowering when single-stemmed, eventually loosely virgately branched, stoutest stem seen c. 4 mm in diam., pubescent all round, hairs c. 0.1 mm long, recurved, appressed, leafy. Leaves opposite, soon alternate upwards, fascicled, sometimes weakly so, largest primary leaves (5-)7-10(-20) x 1.1-1.5(-2) mm, axillary leaves similar, narrowly elliptic, apex acute, apiculate, base gradually contracted, subpetiolate, margins entire, slightly thickened, sometimes revolute when dry, texture rather thin, venation either invisible or midrib slightly raised on lower surface, glandular-punctate, otherwise glabrous except occasionally minute hairs on margins at base. Inflorescence composed of spikes, crowded in flower elongating considerably in fruit, often c. 10-20 x 6 mm, but can reach 60 mm, occasionally solitary, often arranged in very open corymbose panicles, lowermost peduncles c. 15-50 mm long, nude or with a few leaves. Brad adnate to calyx tube, lowermost 3-4.8 x 1-1.6 mm, lanceolate, acute, base concave, hairs c. 0.1 mm long on margins only. Pedicel wanting. Calyx2.\-2.5 mm long, very deeply 3-lobed, anticolateral lobes + broadly triangular (from roughly as long as broad to twice as long as broad), sometimes bifid, each lobe served by a vascular strand, hairs c. 0.1 mm long on margins and outside particularly on posticous side, minute globular glands as well, very minutely glandular inside. Corolla tube 4-6 mm long, funnel-shaped, limb 5-7 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 1.5-2.5 x 1-1.5 mm, anticous lobes 2.2-3.3 x 1-1.8 mm, all lobes oblong-elliptic, shades of violet-blue. Stamens: posticous filaments 1.2-2.7 mm, anthers in mouth or very shortly exerted; anticous filaments 1.8-3.3 mm, anthers well exerted. Stigma and style c. 5-7 mm long, style minutely puberulous. Ovary c. 0.8 x 0.3 mm. Cocci c. 2-2.2 x 1-1.1 mm, dark brown, rugulose. Flowers can be found in any month.
