Characteristics

Dwarf woody shrublet, basal parts not seen, possibly c. 150 mm tall, well branched, branches erect or decumbent, old parts bare, bark blackish, young parts minutely puberulous, hairs less than 0.1 mm long, scarcely recurved, leafy. Leaves opposite, alternate upwards, not or scarcely fascicled, largest leaves 8-12 x 1-1.7 mm, oblong or narrowly elliptic, apex obtuse, base slightly narrowed, margins entire, thickened, slightly revolute, texture moderately thick, venation invisible, very minutely glandular puberulous on both surfaces, ± glabrescent (hairs best seen on young leaves). Inflorescence a terminal glomerule (raceme) c. 10-13 x 10-12 mm in first flower, lowermost few flowers somewhat distant. Bract adnate to pedicel and at least half calyx tube, lowermost 4.2-4.5 x 0.6-0.7 mm, oblong or narrowly elliptic, apex obtuse or subacute, very few acute hairs c. 0.1 mm long on margins at extreme base together with very minute glandular hairs, these also well scattered on both surfaces. Pedicels c. 0.1-0.2 mm long. Calyx 2.2-2.8 mm long, obliquely campanulate, 54obed more than halfway to base, two anticous lobes distinctly larger (longer and slightly broader) than other three, hairs c. 0.1 mm long on margins, very minute glandular hairs scattered over outside. Corolla tube 4-5 mm long, funnel-shaped, limb 4-5 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 1.2-1.6 x 0.7-1 mm, anticous lobe 2.1-2.5 x 1.2-1.3 mm, all lobes oblong-elliptic, white. Stamens: posticous filaments 2-2.2 mm long, anticous filaments 2.2-2.4 mm, all anthers well exerted. Stigma and style c. 3-5.5 mm long, style with a few minute globular glands. Ovary c. 0.8 x 0.4 mm. Cocci not seen.
