Shrublet up to c. 1 m tall, stems pubescent, hairs up to 0.1-0.2 mm long, ± patent, closely leafy. Leaves fascicled, alternate, largest primary leaves c. 1.8-3 x 1 mm (axillary leaves c. 1.5-3.5 x 0.5-0.8 mm), deltoid (axillary linear-oblong), apex acute or subacute, often bluntly apiculate, base broad, margins entire, revolute, texture thick, midvein raised on lower surface of primary leaves, glandular-punctate, otherwise glabrous except for fringe of minute hairs on lower margins of primary leaves. Inflorescence terminal, composed of few-flowered crowded spikes further crowded into a corymbose panicle c. 20-30 x 20-30 mm. Bract adnate to extreme base of calyx tube, lowermost 1.8-2.6 x 0.6-1 mm, lanceolate, acute, concave, hairs up to 0.15-0.2 mm long on margins and lower part of back. Pedicels wanting. Calyx 1.5-2 mm long, campanulate, subequally 5-lobed more than halfway to base, lobes narrowly triangular, acute, strongly keeled, hairs up to 0.1-0.2 mm long on margins and outer surface, minutely glandular as well. Like S. venosa but filaments very long in relation to corolla tube, thus anthers strikingly exserted, bracts narrower (0.6-1 mm vs. 1.2-2.0 mm), hairy towards adaxial base and veins not raised.
