Characteristics

Dwarf woody shrublet 600 mm-1 m tall, stems tending to sprawl, virgately well branched, old parts bare, young parts puberulous, hairs up to 0.2 mm long, ± recurved, closely leafy. Leaves alternate, strongly fascicled, spreading, largest primary leaves 3-5 x 0.7 mm (largest axillary leaves 5-5.5 x 0.5-0.7 mm), linear, apex obtuse to subacute, base not narrowed, half-clasping, margins thickened, texture thick, (blade elliptic in T.S. with horseshoe-shaped row of vascular strands), venation invisible, glandular-punctate, few hairs to 0.2 mm long on margins at extreme base, otherwise few to c. 0.1 mm long well scattered over both surfaces. Inflorescence a broad compound terminal panicle roughly 150 mm long composed of few-flowered lax glomerules c. 4-7 x 5-7 mm arranged in small racemes c. 15-40 mm long. Bract adnate to minute pedicel and calyx tube, lowermost 2.5-2.8 x 0.6-0.7 mm, oblong-lanceolate, subacute, rather coarse hairs up to 0.2-0.25 mm long on lower margins, to 0.1 mm scattered on back together with conspicuous globular glands. Pedicels c. 0.1-0.2 mm long. Calyx 1.5-1.8 mm long, very obliquely campanulate, 4-5-lobed roughly halfway to base, 2 anticous lobes broader than others, hairs up to 0.2 mm long on margins, to 0.15 mm outside together with globular glands. Corolla tube 2.2-2.5 mm long, broadly funnel-shaped, limb c. 4 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lip 1.4-1.8 x 1.2-1.6 mm, entire to bilobed, anticous lobe 2-2.5 x 1.2-1.6 mm, all lobes oblong-elliptic, mauve. Stamens: posticous filaments 2-2.5 mm long, anticous filaments 2.2-2.6 mm, all anthers far exerted. Stigma and style 3-4 mm long, style glabrous. Ovary c. 0.7 x 0.6 mm. Cocci not seen.
