Characteristics

Dwarf woody very glandular shrublet, height unknown but can achieve at least 300 mm, well branched, branches prostrate to erect, old bare inflorescence axes persistent and subspinescent, young branches densely glandular puberulous, hairs to c. 0.2 mm long, patent, closely leafy. Leaves opposite, alternate upwards, fascicled, largest primary leaves c. 4-9 x 0.8-1 mm, narrowly oblong, apex acute or subacute, base not narrowed, margins entire, thickened, revolute, texture thick, venation invisible, both surfaces densely glandular puberulous, hairs up to 0.1-0.2 mm long; axillary leaves similar. Inflorescence an uncrowded terminal spike c. 25-50 x 5-7 mm in fruit, flowers then distant, either solitary or loosely ± corymbosely panicled. Bract adnate to at least half calyx tube, lowermost c. 2.2-3 x 1-1.2 mm, lanceolate, subacute, glandular puberulous all over, hairs up to 0.2-0.25 mm long. Pedicels wanting or nearly so. Calyx c. 1.7-2.2 mm long, slightly obliquely campanulate, 5-lobed halfway or less to base, anticous lobes broadly triangular, about twice as broad as other three, densely glandular-pubescent all over outer surface, hairs up to 0.4-0.5 mm long. Corolla tube c. 1.8-2.8 mm long, broadly funnel-shaped, limb c. 3-3.2 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lip c. 1 x 1-1.3 mm, entire or shallowly notched, anticous lobe c. 1.5-2 x 0.9-1.1 mm, all lobes oblong-elliptic, colour unknown. Stamens: posticous filaments c. 2.5 mm long, anticous filaments c. 2.5-2.8 mm, all anthers well exerted. Stigma and style c. 3-3.3 mm long, style glabrous or with a few minute glandular hairs. Ovary c. 0.6 x 0.4 mm. Cocci 1.3-1.8 x 1.1-1.2 mm, smooth or very slightly rugulose, red-brown.
