Dwarf woody shrublet or perennial herb tufted from woody taproot, c. 150-450 mm tall, virgately branched, old stems nude, thickest seen 6 mm in diam., young branches pubescent, hairs c. 0.1 mm long, patent, together with sunken glands that discharge-heavily and varnish the surface, closely leafy. Leaves opposite, quickly alternate upwards, not fascicled, ascending at angle of c. 45°, later spreading, largest 7-12 x 1-1.6 mm, oblong-elliptic, apex obtuse to subacute, base narrowed, subpetiolate, margins entire, revolute (thickened) producing a median channel on lower surface, upper surface rounded, texture moderately thick, glandular-punctate, often heavily varnished. Inflorescence a crowded raceme c. 15-35 x 10 mm in flower and fruit, either solitary at tips of leafy branchlets or subsidiary racemes developing to produce a small panicle. Bract adnate to pedicel and extreme base of calyx tube, lowermost 5.5-6 x 1-1.8 mm, lanceolate, subacute to very acute, hairs c. 0.25-0.4 mm long on margins together with glandular hairs c. 0.1-0.2 mm long, minute globular glands on both surfaces, very viscous. Pedicel 0.3-0.6 mm long. Calyx 2.8-3.2 mm long, campanulate, subequally 5-lobed up to halfway to base, hairs up to 0.3-0.6 mm long on margins, few to many on outside, glandular hairs to 0.1 mm as well, usually very viscous, inside globular glands all over, very viscous, often sticking to corolla tube. Corolla tube 4.5-6.4 mm long, funnel-shaped, limb 5-6 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 2-2.7 x 1-1.7 mm, anticous lobe 2.5-3 x 1.2-1.7 mm, all lobes elliptic, white. Stamens: posticous filaments 1.6-3.8 mm long, anticous filaments 2.2-4 mm, all anthers far exerted. Stigma and style c. 5-8 mm long, style puberulous, hairs glandular or not. Ovary c. 1 x 0.7 mm, glabrous. Cocci 2.4-2.7 x 1.4-1.5 mm, red-brown, smooth, inner face plane, pair of cocci held within persistent calyx, sometimes glued to it.
