Characteristics

Dwarf shrublet, main stems 150-350 mm long, thick, woody, bark dark, decumbent or spreading, well-branched, young parts pubescent, hairs up to 0.15-0.25 mm long, retrorse, closely leafy. Leaves opposite, alternate upwards, weakly fascicled, largest primary leaves 6-20 x 2-5.8 mm, elliptic, apex obtuse or subobtuse, base narrowed to a short petiolar part, margins entire, slightly revolute, texture thin, midrib slightly raised on both surfaces, both surfaces pubescent, hairs c. 0.15-0.25 mm long; axillary leaves similar. Inflorescence a short (up to c. l00 mm long) narrow pyramidal panicle composed of glomerules (racemes) c. 6-10 x 8-10 mm elongating to c. 12-20 x 10 mm, either sessile or on nude or leafy peduncles c. 5-8 mm long. Bract adnate to pedicel and calyx tube, lowermost 3-4.5 x 2-2.3 mm, broadly elliptic or ovate, concave, apex subobtuse, outer surface pubescent, hairs up to 0.5-0.6 mm long, minutely glandular as well. Pedicel up to 0.1-0.3 mm long. Calyx 1.8-2.3 mm long, campanulate, 5-lobed less than halfway to base, 2 anticous lobes much broader than other 3, all lobes deltoid, acute, pubescent all over, hairs up to c. 0.5 mm long, minutely glandular as well. Corolla tube 3-4.5 mm long, broadly funnel-shaped, limb 4-5.5 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 1.3-2 x 0.8-1.5 mm, anticous lobe 2.1-2.8 x 1.2-2 mm, all lobes elliptic or oblong-elliptic, white. Stamens: posticous filaments 1.8-4.3 mm long, anticous filaments 2.3-5 mm, all anthers far exerted. Stigma and style 4-6 mm long, style glabrous. Ovary c. 0.7 x 0.7 mm. Cocci (few seen) c. 2 x 1.3 mm, red-brown, smooth.
