Characteristics

Dwarf woody shrublet c. 250-350 mm tall, virgately well branched, old stems bare, thickest main stem seen c. 8 mm in diam., young branches pubescent, hairs up to 0.4-0.7 mm long, coarse, patent, closely leafy. Leaves opposite, quickly alternate upwards, not fascicled, largest 2-6 x 0.4-0.8 mm, spreading-recurved, tip sometimes upcurved, linear-lanceolate, apex acute, apiculate, base not or scarcely narrowed, margins entire; slightly thickened, texture moderately thick, midrib slightly raised on lower surface, coarse patent hairs c. 0.2-0.7 mm long scattered all over, minute globular glands as well, inconspicuous and scale-like when dry. Inflorescence a moderately congested many-flowered raceme c. 20-100 x 10-12 mm in flower (no fruiting ones seen), solitary at tips of innumerable leafy branchlets. Bract adnate to pedicel and often to extreme base of calyx as well, lowermost 4-5.8 x 0.6-1 mm, lanceolate, acuminate, coarse hairs up to 0.4-0.8 mm long on margins and back, diminishing in size upwards, rather shorter ones on inner face. Pedicel OA-0.2 mm long. Calyx 2.5-3 mm long, campanulate, subequally 5-lobed halfway or more to base, coarse spreading hairs up to 0.5-0.8 mm long all over margins and outside together with minute globular glands, inside minute glands scattered all over together with a few acute hairs up to c. 0.5 mm long on anticous lobes. Corolla tube 3.4-4 mm long, funnel-shaped, limb 4.2-6 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 1.4-2.5 x 1-1.2 mm, anticous lobe 2-3 x 1-1.2 mm, all lobes oblong, white. Stamens: posticous filaments 1.8-2.5 mm long, anticous filaments 2-3 mm, all anthers far exerted. Stigma and style c. 4.5-7 mm long, style pubescent, hairs mostly acute, a few minute glands sometimes present as well. Ovary c. 0.7 x 0.5 mm, minutely glandular nearly all over. Cocci not seen.
