Selago inaequifolia Hilliard

Dwarf woody shrublet up to at least 400 mm tall, stems erect to ± sprawling, virgately branched, old inflorescence axes persistent, subspinescent, old stems bare, young parts puberulous, hairs c. 01. mm long, ± patent, closely leafy. Leaves opposite, alternate upwards, strongly fascicled, largest primary leaves 8-20 x 0.7-1.1 mm, mostly much longer than axillary ones, but tending to shorten on uppermost part of stem, linear, apex obtuse to subacute, base scarcely narrowed then expanded and half-clasping, margins entire, thickened, revolute, texture moderately thick, venation invisible, pubescent all over, hairs up to 0.1 mm long. Inflorescence a narrow crowded terminal panicle c. 50-110 x 20 mm (broader when compounded) composed of crowded glomerules c. 8 x 8 mm in first flower, scarcely elongating in fruit, glomerules either ± sessile or on short leafy peduncles, the lowermost sometimes themselves panicled. Bract adnate to about half calyx tube, lowermost 2.4-3 x 1.2-1.4 mm, elliptic to ovate, obtuse to subacute, densely puberulous on both faces, hairs up to 0.1-0.15 mm long. Pedicel 0-0.2 mm long. Calyx 1.5-1.8 mm long, obliquely campanulate, 5-lobed roughly halfway to base, two anticous lobes much broader than other three, deltoid, hairs on margins up to 0.15 mm long, c. 0.1 mm all over outside together with minute globular glands. Corolla tube 3-4 mm long, broadly funnel-shaped, limb 3.5-5 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 1-1.5 x 0.8-1 mm, or occasionally lip entire, anticous lobe 1.7-2.5 x 1-1.7 mm, all lobes elliptic-oblong, white. Stamens: posticous filaments 2-2.8 mm long, anticous filaments 3-3.5 mm, all anthers far exerted. Stigma and style 3.4-5.6 mm long, style glabrous or a few delicate hairs. Ovary c. 0.4 x 0.3 mm. Cocci (few seen) c. 1.4-1.6 x 0.9 mm, red-brown, smooth.
