Perennial herb, either bushy or several stems tufted from base, stems c. 300-600 mm tall, simple below, branching above into a large spreading panicle, pubescent, hairs patent or slightly recurved, up to 0.25-0.6 mm long, closely leafy throughout. Leaves alternate, fascicled, primary leaves 4-15(-20) x 1-2.8(-10) mm, secondary often smaller, lanceolate, elliptic or spathulate in outline, in larger leaves base tapering to a distinct petiolar part, apex acute, margins sharply and coarsely serrate with 1-4 pairs of teeth, sometimes entire in very narrow secondary leaves, glandular-punctate, glabrous or very nearly so above, below broad-based hairs up to 0.25-0.6 mm long often confined to midrib, sometimes extending to margins. Inflorescence a big spreading panicle but begins flowering when scarcely branched, flowers eventually distant. Bract adnate to pedicel and calyx tube, part free from pedicel up to c. 2.8-3.5 x 0.7-0.8 mm, oblong-lanceolate, acute, thick-textured, almost glabrous to sparsely pubescent with hairs up to 0.25 mm long on margins and midline. Pedicel (lowermost) 2-4.5 mm. Calyx 2.2-3 mm long on anticous side, lobes 5, almost equal, about twice as long as tube, deltoid-acuminate, thick-textured, strongly keeled, glabrous or with few to many hairs c. 0.25 mm long on margins. Corolla tube 3-5 mm long, funnel-shaped, limb c. 4 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes c. 1.5 x 1 mm, anticous lobe c. 1.8-2.2 x 1-1.4 mm, all lobes oblong-elliptic, white to pale mauve. Stamens: posticous filaments 1-1.5 mm long, anthers included, anticous filaments 1.8-2 mm long, anthers shortly exerted. Stigma and style c. 4-5 mm long, style glandular-puberulous. Ovary c. 0.8 x 0.4 mm, nectariferous gland very small. Cocci c. 2 x 1 mm, light brown, smooth, the pair probably not separating, or doing so tardily.
