Characteristics

Dwarf woody shrublet of unknown height, virgately branched, old stems bare, young branchlets puberulous, hairs to 0.1 mm long, recurved, arranged in longitudinal bands, very minute globular glands as well, closely leafy. Leaves opposite, alternate upwards, not fascicled, spreading at angle of c. 45°, largest 8-11 x 1.2-1.8 mm, subterete, apex acute, mucronate, tip recurved, base narrowed to brief petiolar part, decurrent, texture thick, upper surface with a median channel at least when dry, glandular-punctate, otherwise glabrous except for minute hairs on decurrent margins. Inflorescence a crowded raceme, c. 15-25 x 15 mm, solitary at tips of short leafy branchlets. Bract adnate to pedicel and extreme base of calyx tube, lowermost 7-8.5 x 1.2-1.8 mm, lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, apex very acute, hairs to 0.4 mm long on lower margins, sometimes few, very minute globular glands on both surfaces. Pedicels 0.25-0.4 mm long. Calyx c. 3.2 mm long, campanulate, subequally 5-lobed less than halfway to base, few hairs c. 0.25-0.4 mm long on margins, lobes glabrous outside except for minute glands, outside of tube clad in hairs c. 0.4-0.6 mm long together with glandular hairs up to 0.1 mm, inside globular glands all over. Corolla tube 6.5-7.5 mm long, funnel-shaped, limb 6-6.6 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 2 x 1.2-1.6 mm, anticous lobe 2.7-3.2 x 1.6 mm, all lobes elliptic, almost certainly white. Stamens: posticous filaments 1.5 mm long, anthers in mouth, anticous filaments 2.8 mm, anthers well exerted. Stigma and style c. 6 mm long, style minutely puberulous. Ovary c. 1 x 0.5 mm, glabrous. Cocci not seen. In September (no day given) the racemes were mostly in first flower.
