Perennial herb, stems several tufted from woody stoloniferous caudex, c. 150-400 mm long, decumbent or erect, simple or loosely and sparingly branched from base, often branching above to produce a paniculate inflorescence, pubescent with strongly recurved hairs c. 0.1-0.25 mm long, occasional hairs with minute branch on upper side of curve, closely leafy. leaves opposite or subopposite, soon alternate upwards, fascicled, primary leaves 7-16 x 0.7-2 mm, smaller upwards (axillary leaves also smaller), linear or oblong, lowermost occasionally narrowly oblanceolate, apex subacute to obtuse, callose-tipped, base scarcely narrowed, margins thickened, entire, only midvein visible, strongly raised on lower surface, glandular-punctate, acute hairs c. 0.1-0.15 mm long present on margins and midline on lower surface, rarely midline on upper surface, hairs sometimes few or wanting. Inflorescence of short compact racemes (glomerules) c. 7-10 mm in diam., largest elongating to c. 25 mm in fruit, lowermost few flowers often distant, each glomerule terminal, initially solitary, later stem usually producing short lateral leafy branchlets so forming a loose narrow panicle, stem often pedunculoid below glomerule. Bract adnate to pedicel and calyx tube, narrowly elliptic, lowermost 3.5-5 x 0.9-1.2 in in, minute hairs (c. 0.1-0.15 mm) on margins and keel. Pedicel (lowermost) 0.5-1.5 mm long. Calyx 3-3.7 mm long, subequally 5-lobed (lobes less than half depth of calyx), deeply split on anticous side, minutely gland-dotted all over, acute hairs up to 0.1-0.2 mm long on margins. Corolla tube 3-4.5 mm long, narrowly funnel-shaped, limb 3.5-4 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 1-1.6 x 0.8-1 mm, anticous lobe 1.5-2 x 0.8-1.2 mm, all lobes elliptic, white, very minutely glandular outside. Stamens, posticous filaments 1.2-1.6 mm long, anthers in mouth; anticous filaments 1.2-2 mm long, anthers very shortly exerted. Stigma and style c. 3-5 mm long, style minutely puberulous. Ovary c. 0.8 x 0.4 mm. Cocci c. 2-3 x 0.8-1 mm, ± oblong, smooth, light brown.
