Shrublet c. 500 mm tall, virgately well branched, old parts woody, bare, young parts puberulous, hairs up to 0.1 mm long, patent, closely leafy. Leaves opposite soon alternate upwards, fascicled, largest primary leaves 2.5-3.5 x 1-1.2 mm, narrowly ovate or oblong-lanceolate, apex obtuse to subacute, base broad, margins entire, plane, texture thick (blade elliptic in T.S.), midrib invisible or slightly raised on lower surface, glandular-punctate, few hairs up to 0.1-0.15 mm long on lower margins; axillary leaves similar but often smaller. Inflorescence a terminal spike c. 10-15 x 8-10 mm in flower (probably not much elongated in fruit), solitary or eventually overtopped by a few subsidiary spikes on leafy branchlets developing immediately below it (only young material seen). Bract adnate to extreme base of calyx tube, lowermost 3.1-5 x 0.8-1 mm, lanceolate, acute, lower part slightly concave, hairs up to 0.15-0.2 mm long on lower margins, few minute globular glands on lower back, otherwise either glabrous there or with a few hairs to c. 0.1 mm long. Pedicel wanting. Calyx 2.1-2.8 mm long, campanulate, subequally 5-lobed more than halfway to base, lobes narrowly triangular, acute, hairs up to 0.15-0.2 mm on margins, to 0.15 mm all over outside, minutely glandular as well. Corolla tube 4-4.8 mm long, funnel-shaped, limb 4.2-5 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 1.7-2.1 x 1 mm, anticous lobe 2.2-3 x 1.2-1.3 mm, all lobes oblong-elliptic, white. Stamens: posticous filaments 1.8-2 mm long, anticous filaments 2.2-2.6 mm, all anthers well exerted. Stigma and style c. 5-7.5 mm long, style pubescent. Ovary c. 0.8 x 0.5 mm. Cocci c. 2 x 1 mm (few seen), smooth, inner face ± plane. Plants were in flower and first fruit in November.
