Stoloniferous perennial herb, stems 150-450 mm long, few tufted from apex of stolon, simple or sparingly branched near base, erect or decumbent, villous, hairs patent, up to 0.4-1 mm long, closely leafy. Leaves opposite becoming alternate upwards, not fascicled though a few tiny leaves may be present in axils, largest 10-20 x 2-6 m, elliptic or narrowly lanceolate, apex subacute, base narrowed to a short petiolar part, margins entire or very rarely with 1 or 2 tiny teeth near apex of largest leaves, both surfaces villous, hairs up to 0.3-1 mm long. Inflorescence a compact glomerule c. 7-10 mm in diam., scarcely elongating in fruit, either solitary at apex of stem or several simple lateral branchlets c. 25-120 mm long developing from axils of upper leaves, each bearing a glomerule, branchlets sometimes pedunculoid at apex. Bract adnate to pedicel only, lowermost 3.2-4.5 x 1-1.4 mm, lanceolate or elliptic, concave in lower part, thick-textured with narrow pale margins, villous all over backs and margins, hairs up to 0.15 0.5 mm long, some shorter hairs on inner face near apex. Pedicel up to 0.5-1 mm long. Calyx 3.8-4.4 mm long, tubular, subequally 5-lobed, lobes much shorter than tube, deltoid, subacute, villous, hairs up to 0.15-0.6 mm long, minutely glandular as well, accrescent to enclose cocci. Corolla tube 4-6.5 mm long, funnel-shaped, limb 4-5.7 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 1.5-2 x 1-1.7 mm, anticous lobe 1.8-2.7 x 1-1.4 mm, all lobes oblong-elliptic or elliptic, white, very minutely glandular outside. Stamens: posticous filaments 1.5-2.2 mm long, anthers in throat; anticous filaments 1.7-2.5 mm long, anthers shortly exerted. Stigma and style c. 4-8 mm long, style puberulous. Ovary c. 0.8 x 0.4 mm. Cocci c. 2.3 x 0.8 mm, ± oblong, smooth, light brown.
