Characteristics

Bushy perennial herb, stems c. 300 mm-lm long, erect, well branched, pubescent, hairs up to 0.5-0.8 mm long, patent, closely leafy. leaves opposite becoming alternate upwards, fascicled, largest primary leaves 14-50 x 3-10 mm (axillary and uppermost leaves smaller), elliptic, apex acute, callose-tipped, base narrowed, petiolar in large leaves, margins entire or with up to 6 pairs of teeth, glandular-punctate, hairs up to 0.3-0.5 mm long all over both surfaces. Inflorescence composed of few-flowered (up to c. 20) congested racemes arranged in small corymbs c. 25-60 mm in diam., these eventually loosely panicled. Bract adnate to pedicel and base of calyx tube, blade of lowermost 2-2.8 x 0.5-0.9 mm, elliptic, apex very acute, shallowly concave, pale membranous margins lacking or very weakly developed, either with hairs 0.15-0.2 mm long all over, or minutely glandular all over, hairs c. 0.1 mm long nearly confined to margins. Pedicel (lowermost) 1-2 mm long. Calyx 1.8-2 mm long, campanulate, subequally 5-lobed, lobes 0.7-lmm long, very acute or acute, minutely glandular all over, acute hairs as well 0.1-0.2 mm long on margins and keels or these occasionally wanting. Corolla tube 1.4-1.7 mm long, broadly funnel-shaped, limb 2.5-3.4 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 0.8-1.2 x 0.6-0.8 mm, anticous lobe 1.1-1.6 x 0.7-lmm, all lobes oblong-elliptic, white. Stamens:, posticous filaments 0.8-1.3 mm long, anthers shortly exerted; anticous filaments 1.3-1.8 mm long, anthers well exerted. Stigma and style 1.5-2 mm long, style glabrous or puberulous. Ovary c. 0.6 x 0.3 mm. Cocci c. 1.5-2 x 0.8 mm, ± oblong, weakly rugulose, brown. Flowers can be found in any month.
