Characteristics

Shrubby, branches long, slender, stiff, rodlike, prostrate, decumbent or ascending, older parts sometimes rooting at the nodes, loosely woolly at first, soon glabrous, young branchlets closely leafy. Leaves up to 4 cm long, distinctly petioled or sessile, blade oblong in outline, closely or more distantly pinnatisect, lobes simple or often the upper ones toothed, or bipinnatisect, lobes 2-4(-20) mm long, loosely woolly at first, soon glabrous. Heads radiate, solitary or several corymbosely arranged at the branch tips. Involucre turbinate, bracts c. 4.5-6 mm long, about equalling the disc, gland-dotted or with stalked glands, often cobwebby at the base as well, nerves resinous. Rays c. 13, long and spreading, they and the disc bright canary yellow, corolla lobes of disc flowers with a median resinous line. Achenes c. 3 mm long, cylindric, ribbed, glabrous.

Shrub or perennial herb, up to 1.2 m high; procumbent, decumbent or ascending; vegetative stems and inflorescence branches virgate (straight and rod-like), loosely woolly initially, soon glabrous, closely leafy. Leaves petiolate or sessile; blade oblong in outline, pinnatisect or bipinnatisect, up to 40 mm long, loosely woolly at first, soon glabrous. Heads radiate; solitary or several corymbosely arranged. Involucral bracts 8-12, 4.5-6.0 mm long, ± equalling disc florets, gland-dotted or with stalked glands, often cobwebby at base as well. Flowers: ray florets ± 13, ray and disc florets bright canary-yellow; Mar.-May. Fruit with cypsela (and ovary) glabrous.
Perennial, herbaceous shrub, up to 1.2 m high. Stems long, stiff, prostrate, decumbent or ascending, can root at nodes, loosely woolly, glabrescent, young stems closely leafy. Leaves oblong in outline, up to 40 mm long, petiolate or sessile, pinnatisect or bipinnatisect, woolly to glabrous, lobes entire or toothed, 2-20 mm long. Inflorescence a solitary capitula or several in a corymb. Capitula radiate, disc and rays bright yellow, rays ± 13, long and spreading; involucre turbinate; bracts 8-12, 4.5-6.0 mm long, glandular, base often cobwebby; calyculus bracts few, up to 4 mm long. Flowering time Jan.-Apr. Cypselae cylindrical, 3 mm long, ribbed, glabrous.
Decumbent shrublet, with rod-like branches, up to 400 mm tall, rooting along lower parts of stem, glabrescent but thinly cobwebbed when young. Leaves sessile, often with axillary tufts or shoots, closely pinnatisect, 3-8-jugate, mostly 10-30 x 6-10 mm, lobes linear and simple or upper lobulate, 2-6 mm long, glabrescent and leathery, margins slightly revolute. Flowerheads solitary or several in lax corymbs on laxly bracteate peduncles up to 100 mm long, radiate, yellow; involucre campanulate, 7-10 mm diam., bracts 10-14, 5-7 x 1-2 mm, bracteoles 3-7, bract-like, lanceolate.
Prostrate, decumbent or ascending shrub. Leaves loosely woolly at first, soon glabrous, pinnatisect or bipinnatisect. Vegetative and inflorescence branches virgate (straight and rod-like). Heads radiate. Ovaries (and achenes) glabrous. Flowers bright canary-yellow; March to May and November to December.
