Lower leaves subsucculent, light green with purple-tinged veins, sessile, linear-lanceolate to oblanceolate or elliptic in outline, 2–7.5 cm long, 0.15–0.7 cm wide (–1.5 cm across the lobes), attenuate into a not or hardly expanded membraneous base, margins entire or denticulate to conspicuously pinnately serrate or lobulate or with a few remote pinnate teeth or narrow ascending lobes, apex obtuse to subacute, apiculate, sparsely arachnoid to glabrous except at very base; upper leaves sessile, smaller, ± serrate, subauriculate at the base..
