Characteristics

Perennial herb with a creeping, branching, woody stock sending up numerous erect stems to c. 35 cm, stems mostly simple below the inflorescence branches, thinly cobwebby, densely leafy. Leaves coriaceous, up to 2.5 x 0.5 cm, lanceolate, tapering at both ends, scarcely petioled, apex acute, margins thickened, entire to sharply serrate in the upper half, thinly cobwebby at first, glabrescent. Heads radiate, few to many on sparsely bracteate peduncles arranged in a corymbose panicle. Involucre campanulate, bracts 8, 3.5-4 mm long, shorter than the disc, keeled, with 2-3 resinous nerves, calyculus bracts few, all thinly cobwebby, glabrescent. Rays 6-7, short, soon recurved, corolla lobes of disc flowers with a median orange resinous line descending on the inflated part of the tube, rays and disc yellow. Achenes not seen, ovaries glabrous.
