Characteristics

Erect, annual herb, glandular-hairy. Stems robust, branched above, up to 1 m high. Leaves up to 150 mm long, oblong to oblong-obovate in outline, pinnatifid, lobes blunt, bluntly toothed or repand, lower leaves petiolate, upper sessile, auricled. Inflorescence laxly corymbose. Capitula several, radiate, disc and rays (6-8) yellow; involucre campanulate; bracts ± 12, 6 mm long; calyculus bracts very few, minute. Flowering time mainly Aug. Cypselae cylindrical, 4 mm long, ribs shortly hairy.

Leaves oblong-oblanceolate and pinnatisect, (10-)30-80 mm long, lobes oblong and toothed, lower leaves tapering below and often subpetiolate, upper amplexicaul-auriculate. Flowerheads in loose corymbs, radiate, yellow with yellow ray florets; involucre cylindrical, 3-5 mm diam., usually glandular-pubescent, bracts 12-18, 0.5-0.8 x 6-9 mm, bracteoles 2-6, subulate.
