Leaves blade of basal leaves oblong or obovate in outline, pinnatifid or lobulate, up to 200 x 40 mm, tapering to broad, flat, half-clasping, petiole-like base, lobes oblong, rounded, margins ± toothed or also lobed, sinuses broad; stem leaves similar to smaller, upper linear, base eared, half-clasping, margins serrate, passing into bracts; glandular-pubescent to softly pilose. Heads radiate, few to ± 20, 10-11 mm long, in a spreading, corymbose panicle; peduncles long. Involucral bracts 12-14, 9-12 mm long, ± equalling disc florets, glandular-pubescent to softly pilose; calyculus bracts very few. Flowers: ray florets 8-12; ray and disc florets yellow; Aug.-May. Fruit with cypsela (and ovary) narrowly cylindrical, ribbed, furrows white-hispid.

Tufted, sticky perennial from short, erect rhizome, to 40 cm. Leaves oblanceolate, petiolate below, lacerate to pinnatifid. Flower heads radiate, in branched corymbs, yellow, involucre cylindrical, mostly 8-10 mm long, sticky, sparsely calycled.
