Perennial herb with clumps of erect stems to c. 1 m, stems simple below the inflorescence branches, white-felted, densely leafy. Leaves sessile or nearly so, up to 6 x 2.5 cm, decreasing in size upwards, pinnatisect, lobes 3-4 each side, distant, linear-lanceolate, acute, margins revolute, upper surface lightly cobwebby, glabrescent or nearly so, lower white-felted. Heads radiate, many in congested corymbose panicles, these in turn sometimes corymbosely arranged. Involucre campanulate, bracts c. 8-10, c. 4-5 mm long, a little shorter than the disc, with 3-4 parallel resinous nerves, calyculus bracts few, short, all slightly woolly particularly at the base. Rays c. 7, short, spreading, they and the disc bright yellow, disc flowers with a median orange resinous line in each corolla lobe running to the base of the campanulate part of the tube. Achenes c. 3 mm, narrowly turbinate, strongly 5-ribbed, the ribs raised (somewhat fluted in cross section), an orange resinous nerve lying in each hollow, glabrous.
