Characteristics

A slender voluble herbaceous twiner, stems and leaves somewhat succulent, glabrous or leaves thinly hairy below. Leaves up to c. 6 x 7 cm, ovate-deltoid in outline, shallowly and acutely lobed or toothed, the sinuses broad, often denticulate, base more or less cordate, petiole about as long as the blade. Heads discoid, solitary or few in very open corymbs terminating short side branches with reduced leaves. Involucre narrowly campanulate, bracts c. 12, 10-11 mm long, keeled, nerves resinous, calyculus bracts broadly elliptic, foliaceous, spreading. Flowers yellow or orange. Achenes 5-6 mm long, cyl-indric, ribbed, hispid between the ribs.
