Creeping perennial herb, subscapigerous, rhizomatous, tufted with erect flowering stems 4–15 cm high; stems green or purplish, arachnoid, glabrescent.. Leaves ± crowded, sessile, dark green, narrowly oblanceolate, oblanceolate-spatulate or oblanceolate, 2–7 cm long, 0.1–0.6 cm wide, tapered into a slightly expanded membraneous base, margins entire or remotely denticulate and revolute, apex obtuse, subapiculate, arachnoid especially on midrib or sparsely arachnoid or pilose especially towards or only at the base and on margins, glabrescent, slightly purplish.. Capitula radiate, erect, terminal, solitary or 2–3; stalks of the individual capitula arachnoid to glabrous; involucre obconic-cylindrical, 7.5–9 mm long, 4.5–6 mm in diameter; bracts of calyculus 6–20, imbricate, lanceolate or broadly so, dark or purplish at the apex, 1–4.5 mm long, thinly arachnoid or ciliate or glabrous; phyllaries 16–22, green or purple-tinged with dark purplish tips, 7–8.5 mm long, thinly arachnoid to glabrous.. Ray florets 15–20, yellow, tube 3–3.8 mm long, hairy, rays 9–12 x 2.5–3 mm, 4–5-veined; disc florets yellow, corolla 4.7–5.8 mm long, slightly expanded above the middle, glabrous, lobes 0.7–0.8 mm long.. Achenes 2.5–2.8 mm long, ribbed, hairy or sparsely so in the grooves; pappus 4–5 mm long, white.
