Perennial creeping herb with erect flowering branches 4–13(–20) cm high, branching, rhizomatous, tough; stems densely white-lanate, though eventually glabrescent.. Leaves sessile, somewhat succulent, oblanceolate to oblong or oblong-linear, 1.4–7 cm long, 0.5–1.8 cm wide, ± attenuate into a membraneous often purplish slightly expanded but exauriculate petioloid base, margins obscurely serrulate to remotely coarsely serrate, apex obtuse, apiculate, white-tomentose to green and glabrous above, densely white-tomentose to thinly arachnoid and with glabrous midrib beneath.. Capitula radiate, erect, solitary or rarely 2–3 together terminal on the branches; stalks of the individual capitula thinly to densely lanate; involucre 9–12 mm long, 6–7 mm in diameter; bracts of calyculus 8–12, lanceolate, dark-tipped, 5–9 mm long, thinly to densely arachnoid-lanate; phyllaries 12–20, black-tipped, 7–11 mm long, densely white-lanate to thinly arachnoid and glabrescent, sometimes also minutely puberulous.. Ray florets 12–20, bright yellow, tube 3 mm long, glabrous, rays 5.5–6 x 2.5–3 mm, 4-veined; disc florets dull yellow, becoming brown, corolla 5–6 mm long, glabrous, expanded above the middle, lobes 0.7–1 mm long.. Achenes 3 mm long, ribbed, glabrous; pappus 5–5.5 mm long.
