Characteristics

Succulent shrub 90–150 cm high, with straggly branches; stems glabrous, with pungent smell when cut.. Leaves sessile, succulent, subcylindrical, grooved above, 5–11.5 cm long, 0.2–0.6 cm wide, entire, apiculate, glabrous.. Capitula radiate, very numerous in copious long-stalked compound terminal corymbs; involucre cylindrical, 10–12 mm long, 3–5 mm in diameter; bracts of calyculus 2–5, lax, lanceolate, 2–4 mm long; phyllaries 5–8, 6.5–12 mm long.. Ray florets 5, bright yellow, tube 6.6–9.5 mm long, glabrous; rays 1.7–3.5 mm long, rather irregularly lobed; disc florets yellow, corolla 8.3–11.5 mm long, expanded in upper two-thirds, glabrous, lobes 1 mm long.. Achenes 4 mm long, glabrous or sparsely shortly hairy; pappus 7.5–9 mm long.
