Perennial herb ± 1 m high; stems solitary, green, glabrous, winged.. Basal leaves sessile, narrowly elliptic, 48.5 cm long (including 18 cm long petioloid base), 2.7 cm wide, long-tapered into a petioloid base, margins finely sinuate-denticulate, apex attenuate, subacute; stem leaves sessile, lanceolate or oblanceolate, 10–14.5 cm long, 1.1–1.9 cm wide, pseudopetiolate, with slightly decurrent margins forming ridges on the stem; all leaves green, glabrous.. Capitula radiate, erect, 7–19 in divaricate lax corymbs; involucre cylindrical, 6–8 mm long, 4–5 mm wide; bracts of calyculus 16–18, imbricate, 3.5–5 mm long, somewhat arachnoid especially at margins; phyllaries ± 14, bright green, tipped brown, 6–6.5 mm long, bearded at apex, scantily finely arachnoid.. Ray florets ± 3, yellow, corolla tube 4 mm long, hairy, rays 8 x 3 mm, 4-veined; disc florets dull yellow, with yellow styles and anthers, corolla 7 mm long, tube gradually expanded above the middle, glabrous, lobes ovate-triangular, 1.2 mm long.. Achenes 4.5 mm long, glabrous, many-ribbed; pappus 6–6.5 mm long, white.
