Characteristics

Annual (occasionally perennial) herb, glabrous to ± scabrid or viscid-hairy. Stems erect, up to 0.45 m high, branched above. Leaves sessile, up to 65 mm long, lanceolate, entire to dentate or ± pinnatifid, leaf bases entire to coarsely toothed or auricled. Inflorescence a few-headed corymb. Capitula radiate, disc yellow, rays (± 12) pink to purple; involucre broadly campanulate; bracts ± 20, up to 10 mm long; calyculus bracts many, up to 8 mm long. Flowering time mainly Oct. Cypselae cylindrical, up to 2.5 mm long, ribbed, hairy.
