Characteristics

Perennial herb, 60–80 cm high; crown of rootstock woolly; stems erect, leafy, pale green, rather slender, glabrous.. Stem leaves sessile, ovate to lanceolate, the median largest 10–15 cm long, 3.3–4.5 cm wide, the upper and lower smaller, base semi-amplexicaul, margins entire or remotely denticulate, apex obtuse, shortly acuminate-apiculate, glabrous, minutely glandular.. Capitula radiate, numerous in a divaricate lax terminal corymb; involucre cylindrical, 5.5–6 mm long, 3.5 mm in diameter, glabrous; bracts of calyculus 2, 1–2 mm long; phyllaries 6–8, pale green, 5–6 mm long, shortly tapered, slightly bearded at margins at and towards apex.. Ray florets 4–5, yellow, corolla tube 3.5 mm long, glabrous, rays 8–13 x 2–2.5 mm, 4-veined; disc florets yellow with yellow styles and orange anthers, corolla 5.5–6 mm long, tube abruptly expanded above the middle, glabrous, lobes 1–1.2 mm long.. Achenes 5 mm long, glabrous, ribbed, pappus 5 mm long, white.
