Bushy, annual herb, up to 1.8 m high. Stems woody at base, leafy. Leaves up to 150 x 40 mm, lanceolate, apex ± acute, base narrowed, petiole-like, margins revolute, entire to serrate or pinnate, smooth or scabrid above, thinly white-felted below. Inflorescence a spreading panicle; peduncles short. Capitula few-many, radiate, disc and rays (± 8) canary yellow; involucre campanulate; bracts 16-20, 3-4 mm long, glabrous, resinous; calyculus of several small bracts. Flowering time all year, mainly Sept., Oct. Cypselae ± cylindrical, 1.5 mm long, striate, minutely puberulous.
