Annual, nearly glabrous except on the inflorescence; stem erect, leafy; leaves sessile, half-clasping at base, glabrous, deeply pinnatifid, the lobes in 3-5 pair, broadly linear or oblong, subacute, entire or toothed with revolute margins; apex of the stem, flowering branches, bracteae, pedicels and involucres all equally and densely clothed with gland-tipped, rigid hairs; inv. of 16-18 narrow, acute scales, nearly or quite nude at base, pale; rays 8-10, revolute, yellow; achenes striate, puberulous.
