Characteristics

Tubers paired, buried shallowly. Leaves 4 to 8, erect, 30–100 × 5–10 mm, narrowly lanceolate, green. Flower stem 100–300 mm tall, 2–6-flowered. Floral bracts 15–30 mm long, purplish to greyish. Flowers c. 20 mm long, ranging from brownish pink to pink or magenta, rarely yellowish. Sepals 15–25 mm long. Petals 8–20 mm long. Labellum 20–30 × 7–10 mm, pink, brownish or magenta, with darker veins, main part of labellum projecting from flower like a tongue. Callus humped, shiny, with some loose hairs. Capsules erect.
